Join AIH for the first Annual African Festival of the Arts "AFA AWARDS” this August 11th, 2018 in Chicago to celebrate highest achievers in the African Diaspora.

 

The AFA awards will take our audience around the world by celebrating leaders in areas of Medical, Social Entrepreneurship, Sports, Advocacy, Business, Under 30 Rising Star, and Trail Blazers from the US, Africa and the Caribbean.

Social Entrepreneur Award - Recognizes an individual who has served as a catalyst for positive social change in their community (Influencer - Social Media)

Advocate Award - Recognizes an individual who has shown tenacity in advocating on behalf of marginalized individuals and groups

Business Leader Award – Recognizes a business leader who has demonstrated a solid commitment to corporate social responsibility

Under 30 Rising Star - Someone who has global impact and has shown tremendous growth compared to others in their age range

Trail Blazer Award - Extraordinary individual who is ahead of their time, seen as a visionary and works to bring people together

Medical Entreprenuer - Recognizes an individual who not only practices medicine but develops robust initiatives that educate the community and save lives.

Special performance by Chicago Contemporary Dance Theatre

   Chicago Contemporary Dance Theatre , formally known as Baltimore Chicago Contemporary Dance Theatre, was established in 1998 under the direction of Dr. Charles Carter. Under his direction the company has performed throughout the United States. In 2007, Dr. Charles Carter decided to pass his legacy on. Inspired by Carter’s passion, commitment and dedication to arts and the community: Chicago Contemporary Dance Theatre has opened a training facility to continue the legacy.
